Words Unspoken

He let me out of my reverie
Wanted to say something to me.
Heart throbbing in my chest pocket,
I felt it’s the day he’ll claim me.
I made up a speech in my mind,
“You’re the most beautiful person
I ever came across,
I love you from my heart and soul,
I will stand by your side to cross
Every obstacle we confront in life.
No matter what we averse
Stands in our way,
We’ll fight against the world
In the end to be one.
I will never let you down,
You’ve smitten me enough
I promise you a forever
And wouldn’t dare to hurt you ever.
It’s just that I die for you
And all I know is I Love You.”

“Hey, still in your dreams?”,
He startled me again.
“I’m about to propose her,
Wish me luck and hope for the best.”
These words were a thunderclap to me,
It seemed my world shattered away.
My lungs found it difficult to inhale,
My heart wanted to escape this apocalypse
That his words resulted in.
It felt I’ll no longer be able to
Fight with the wind that pushed me down
On the ground.
It was as if I was pinned to the cross,
And no angel of God there to rescue me.
I was suffering, tormented I felt.
All I managed was to smile at him,
Smile that didn’t even touch my eyes.
My head was spinning,
Didn’t know what to do,
So I waved him a goodbye,
Trying to avoid any eye contact.
I felt dead, seeing him go
And taking away my broken heart
In his own chest.
