That Time of Life

”Woof”, he called,

“Come here”, she wailed.

I was stuck in the middle

Of the two precious gems of my life I hailed.

Their lives were at stake.

I’ve never been in such trauma before.

I couldn’t cry because

I had to be strong

It was my mother and my pet

Who were slipping away from my hands.

My family wanted me to transform

Turn my heart into a stone.

I tried, succeeded, almost I think

But there was this pain

Still thriving within.

There was no time to think about,

No time even to worship the lord.

No thirst, no sleep, no mood to talk

No smile, no strength, no will to mock .

I just wanted that time to pass

And that travail to end sooner

As it was getting difficult

To hold back all my emotions

And stare blankly at the two,

Watching them

Lose heir oomph,

Shrink into skeletons

And give up their hopes.

Yes, it was that time of my journey

I would never wish

To encounter again.

  1. if there is something called magician of WordPress, that surely would be you.You carry words in your poem so gracefully that you can’t skip even a single post of yours, even if a person is on break they come back and read all your post, just to go through the magical show you put on through your words,Ms. Sharma.
